Opportunities, Inc. was proud to present the Fort Atkinson Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E) Program as this year’s recipient of their Carolyn Hughes Community Grant.

The agency applauds the D.A.R.E program for teaching our local youth on the dangers of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. Health and safety is a top priority for Opportunities, Inc., as well as supporting community programs to ensure life enrichment and success.

Officer Dan Hefty, who leads the D.A.R.E program, accepted the grant and noted his gratitude for Opportunities, Inc.’s continued support over the years. The D.A.R.E. program is not a budgeted item and is completely ran by the generosity of donations from the community.

Opportunities, Inc. offers a community grant in honor of a very valued staff member, Carolyn Hughes, who worked diligently on behalf of those with diverse abilities to ensure their lives were filled with dignity and purpose.

The grant is awarded to financially assist programs, trainings, services and projects related to youth who experience life barriers for the purpose of maximizing their success and enhancing their abilities to be independent, contributing members of the community.
