The Jefferson Chamber of Commerce presented Opportunities, Inc. with their annual prestigious Business of the Year award for 2015. The community rehabilitation agency proudly accepted the award and is honored for the recognition from the chamber.
The award is presented to chamber member businesses that have been in business for more than three years, grown during its existence, and contributed to the community in some way. Participating in special events and chamber functions is an added benefit, in which Opportunities, Inc. has done throughout the year.
Opportunities, Inc. was established in 1966 through the grass roots vision of parents who were committed to ensuring their family members with diverse abilities had a place to learn, work and achieve independence. The agency continues to expand its comprehensive vocational training and employment services, social integration, academic programs, and supportive home care for all individuals, including military veterans, those who have struggled with the law, youth and adults with physical, developmental and mental health challenges, fellow citizens from different cultural backgrounds and languages, those who have been dislocated and discarded from society, as well as, recent college graduates who just need an open door to employment.
Opportunities, Inc.’s social enterprising operations; including co-manufacturing, warehousing and logistics, print services and staffing solutions, will payroll over 3000 people with diverse backgrounds and abilities this year alone, in a vast spectrum of positions; from production control clerks, welders, fork lift drivers, inventory specialists, administrative support personnel, retail and hospitality workers, to program managers and executive directors.
Opportunities, Inc.’s business model and key partnerships are successfully creating jobs and giving back to the community every day.
